McCarthy and Carrey famously dated from 2005 to 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\">McCarthy tells PEOPLE she had no doubt that &#8220;it was definitely Jim Carrey&#8221; who attended the French awards show last month. But to her, what was more noticeable than Carrey&#8217;s appearance was how content he seemed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\">&#8220;He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him,&#8221; she says, adding, &#8220;That&#8217;s the first thing I noticed. Prior to the C\u00e9sar Awards, the&nbsp;<em>Truman Show&nbsp;<\/em>star last appeared in public when he inducted Soundgarden into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\">McCarthey and Carrey&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/celebrity\/jim-carrey-and-jenny-mccarthy-split\/\">called it quits<\/a>&nbsp;in 2010 after five years together, PEOPLE confirmed at the time. Upon his receipt of the honor, Carrey gave his acceptance speech entirely in French.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_24-0\">Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of France&#8217;s C\u00e9sar Awards, said in a statement to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/global\/jim-carry-clone-conspiracy-theory-denied-cesar-awards-speech-1236676536\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;at the time that Carrey was &#8220;extremely touched by the Academy&#8217;s invitation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_30-0\">&#8220;Eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions. He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words,&#8221; Caulier said in the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_32-0\">He added of Carrey&#8217;s physical appearance, &#8220;For me, it\u2019s a non-issue.
